Single mom realizes dreams through Onward and Upward Program

Jennifer was a determined single mother who had a vision of becoming a Registered Nurse. With her years of experience in healthcare, Jennifer knew that the path to success would require hard work and dedication. In 2016, Jennifer enrolled in the Onward and Upward Program offered by Catholic Charities, where she received the support and guidance she needed to achieve her goals.

Through the program, Jennifer worked with a career navigator, who helped her create personal and academic goals, manage her busy schedule of commuting to school and working part-time, and maintain honor roll status in her Nursing program. With the help of her career navigator, Jennifer graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Nursing in December and passed her boards with excellence.

Thanks to her perseverance and the Onward and Upward Program support, Jennifer secured a job at Mayo Clinic, where she continues to thrive in her career as a Registered Nurse. The program also helped Jennifer and her children get off government support, providing them with financial stability and a brighter future.
