Connecting people with opportunities to thrive.

Intergenerational Connections

Catholic Charities Active Aging Programs values all generations. We believe that young and old alike have common, basic human needs.  These include intellectual stimulation, development of self-esteem, maintaining a link between the past and future, feelings of purposefulness, enjoyments of meaningful relationships and to have a sense of place in relation to the rest of society.  An age integrated community leads to a healthy community as the strengths of one generation strengthens another.  With different views on heritage, traditions, histories and values, there is so much that can be learned from one another.  Volunteers in this area are paired with young people in various settings fulfilling the role of tutors and mentors and in our Book Buddies and Reasons to Write pen pal program.
